Topic outline:
In this session, Access MVP Mike Wolfe will demonstrate how he combines the following tools (including AI) to fully automate and verify the implementation of new features and the fixing of bugs in Access applications:
• Adam Waller's VCS Add-in for exporting Access objects to text files
• The Claude Code extension running in Visual Studio Code
• The MCP-Access project for writing and executing code
• The new testing framework built into v5+ of the VCS Add-in
• The Functional Core, Imperative Shell pattern (for writing code that's easy to test and maintain)
The session will be more of a demonstration of capabilities rather than a step-by-step how-to, as setting up and configuring each point above could almost be its own session.
NOTE: For those attending the UK Access User Group conference in London on 4 Nov, this will be a natural follow-up to that session where Mike will focus primarily on the GitHub/VCS Addin/version control aspect of things. In Mike's experience, version control is a hard prerequisite before letting AI make autonomous edits to your codebase.
