Yet another new feature was quietly added to the latest Beta channel update to version 2608 20305.20002 released on 7 July.
It isn't included in the Access roadmap, nor was it mentioned in my New Access Features presentation to the Access Europe User Group on 1 July.
Following an email request I made less than a month ago, users will no longer need to experience eye strain trying to read the tiny 8pt font in the property sheet.
Starting with version 2608, users can increase the font size in the property sheet from the default 8pt. When first released the maximum was 36pt but that has since been doubled to 72pt.
For example:
| Default 8pt | 9pt | 11pt |
|---|---|---|

The value of a new property, Property Sheet Font Size, can now be changed from Access Options | Object Designers.
Alternatively, the property value can be read/changed using code:
Whichever approach is used, you will need to restart Access for the change to take effect.
Updates
2026-07-24:
Starting with version 2608 build 20321.20000 released on 2026-07-24, the font size can now be increased to a massive 72pt for those who need it.
The range is now identical to that used in the Query Designer Font Size range.
2026-08-04:
The feature is also now available in Curent Channel Preview starting with version 2608 20326.20034 released 2026-08-03.
2026-08-09:
Starting with Beta Channel version 2609 20403.20000 released 2026-08-04, the property sheet font size combo box dropdown can be directly edited to use any font size not listed e.g. 13 pt. The allowed range is between 1 pt and 127 pt.
The same change has also been made to the font size dropdowns for query design and datasheet default font
2026-08-26:
The feature is also now available in Curent Channel starting with version 2608 20326.20112 released 2026-08-26.
Unexpectedly, it is also available in older retail versions (NOT LTSC) going back to at least Access 2019 as well as Access 365.
Conclusions
This is a small but important improvement that I think will be very welcome to many 'mature' Access developers . . .
It also fits in perfectly with the current development work on zooming in forms and reports.
For me, 9pt or 10pt currently works fine but I now have the option to increase it to whatever I may need in the future.
