Topic outline:

Building on his recent presentation for the Access Pacific User Group in Sept 2024, Adrian will demonstrate how to create custom ribbons using command bars.

The video of the earlier session is available in the Access Pacific channel on YouTube.

Adrian will first demonstrate a technique based on the original Office CommandBar (CB) objects that allows CommandBarButtons (CBBs) to be added & removed on the fly without needing to restart Access. These buttons appear on a ribbon called Add-ins. If you already have an Add-Ins ribbon, the new CB & its CBB(s) will be added to what’s there. Otherwise, it is created & removed when you add & delete the first/last CBB.

Next, using ideas demonstrated by Geoff Griffith at the earlier meeting, Adrian will show how to add other types of CommandBar controls, and use some of the many possible FaceIDs for the corresponding images.

Finally, time permitting, he will show a ribbon using CommandBar objects which allows users to run several external apps from Access.
