This article provides information about Access bugs and other issues reported during Oct 2025 (in order of date reported) including symptoms and action taken.
Once again, relatively few and only minor issues this month.
IMPORTANT:
Insider channels (particularly Beta Channel) are used by Microsoft to test new features before these go to production channels. It is to be expected that the insider channels may contain bugs. These channels should only be used for testing purposes and NEVER for production use.

UPDATE 20 Feb 2026:

| Item | Bug information | Date Reported | Reported By | Action taken |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| a) | Datasheet Totals Row bug This is an ongoing issue which was first reported in 2022. When a user clicks on a field the Totals row then scrolls the records, all except the first part of each record for that field is overlaid with the Totals value. For example: ![]() Display issue affecting datasheet forms, tables and queries. Does not affect functionality |
2025-10-03 | Colin Riddington | Being investigated by the Access team. Not high priority |
| b) | Poor colour contrast for keywords in Monaco using black theme (NOW FIXED) The dark blue colour for keywords was difficult to read against a black background ![]() Originally triggered by another accessibility issue fix in light themes! |
2025-09-11 | Gustav Brock | Fixed in Version 2510 (Build 19328.20000) Beta Channel (2025-10-01) Keywords now use a lighter blue color |
c) | Tab index of form controls can no longer be changed in the properties dialog or via VBA (NOW FIXED) Starting with version 2508, tab index order can only be changed via the tab order dialog. |
2025-10-04 | Karl Donaubauer | Quickly fixed remotely using feature/change gate on 2025-10-08 | d) | Module type code fails when run from library database Code to check module type fails with error 9 (subscript out of range) when run from Access database used as a library reference ![]() NOTE: 1. Another obscure issue which occurs in Access 2010 as well as current versions of 365 2. Code runs without error if the Visual Basic Editor is open or was opened previously 3. Alternative code using VB Extensibility runs faster and without error |
2025-10-07 | Colin Riddington | Open the VBE or use alternative code | e) | Query joins removed after SQL highlighted in Monaco (NOW FIXED) Queries with two tables and two or more join fields trigger join errors on highlighting SQL then switching to design view. All joins removed in design view ![]() Reverting to SQL view shows query SQL is still correct but Access may freeze |
2025-10-14 | Colin Riddington | Fixed in Beta Channel version 2511 build 19426.20002 released 2025-10-30 Also fixed in Current Channel version 2511 build 19426.20170 released 2025-12-03 |
f) | Dictionary object does not support use of LongLong datatype The documentation for the Dictionary object states that keys can be any datatype except an array. However, in 64-bit Access, using LongPtr for dictionary keys fails with error 5: Invalid procedure call or argument Same code works in 32-bit Access where the variable is resolved as Long Cause: Dictionary key handling has not been fully updated for 64-bit applications Workaround: cast as a string or Long integer using CStr / CLng |
2025-10-27 | Colin Riddington / Neil Sargent | Acknowledged by the Access team but not a priority as workarounds should work in all situations. | g) | F4 keyboard shortcut does not work correctly in Monaco SQL editor The F4 key should toggle the property sheet visible state on / off. This works correctly in query design view and the legacy editor. However when pressed repeatedly in Monaco, it initially flashes briefly before opening over the navigation pane |
2025-10-28 | Ben Sacherich | Fixed by Access team on 2025-10-29. The fix will be available soon in Beta and later in the Current Channel. |
