Feedback
This article provides information about Access bugs and other issues reported during Sept 2026 (in order of date reported) including symptoms and action taken.
The article also contains lists of fixes made to Current Channel version 2608 and to Beta channel / Current Channel Preview in version 2609.
IMPORTANT:
Insider channels (particularly Beta Channel) are used by Microsoft to test new features before these go to production channels.
It is to be expected that the insider channels will contain bugs. These channels should only be used for testing purposes and NEVER for production use.

| a) | Calculated columns in linked Sharepoint lists show #Error (FIXED) When using the modern cache format (A2010 or later), all calculated columns show errors in Access. ![]() Affects Version 2607 or later. For more details, see MS Tech Community thread by garyvoth: Access and SharePoint Integration May Be Broken Workaround: Rollback to version 2606. Alternatively, disable the modern cache format. However this adversely affects performance and update queries hang without completing |
2026-08-03 | Gustav Brock George Hepworth |
Fixed 2026-08-07 in Current Channel 2607. No change to version or build. Restart Access to obtain fix. |
| b) | Filtering a continuous form/subform to a single record displays vertical grey bar Filtering a continuous form/subform with a vertical scrollbar to 1 or no records displays a vertical grey bar in place of the vertical scrollbar ![]() This does not happen when filtering to two or more records or if filtering to a single record is done in more than one step Long term bug affecting all Access versions since at least A2010. Unlikely to be fixed. For more details, see Access World Forums thread by Kitayama: Workaround: Disable the vertical scrollbar using code if filtered record count <= 1 |
2026-08-03 | Colin Riddington | No action expected. For a code solution, see |
| c) | Display glitch for textboxes and combo boxes in form footer
In the footer section, when a textbox or combobox gets focus the top border disappears. This does not happen when those controls are located in the header or detail section. ![]() Workaround: None |
2026-08-05 | Xevi Batlle / Colin Riddington | Acknowledged by the Access team and will be fixed | d) | Line controls disappear in Report Print Preview (FIXED) Line controls (vertical/horizontal/diagonal) are not displayed in print preview Other controls such as rectangle still display correctly Affected all builds for Current Channel Preview (CCP) version 2608 and Beta Channel 2609 For more details, see Access World Forums thread by h_mochizuki: Access 2608 Build 20326: Line controls disappear in Print Preview Workaround: use a rectangle control with height = 0 |
2026-08-10 | Colin Riddington | Fixed in CCP v2608 20326.20072 released 2026-08-12. Fixed in Beta v2609 24011.20000 released 2026-08-13. |
| e) | Zoom resizes window property issues with subforms With the new Zoom resizes window property set True, issues occur after reset from very large/very small zoom When a form with subform is zoomed above 200% and back to 100%, both the height and width of the the main form are too small. The larger the original zoom, the more pronounced the effect. Similarly, if zoomed out to 10% and back to 100%, the height is OK but the form is too wide No problems observed when initial zoom in the range 25% to 200% Affects 365 Beta Channel version 2609 For more details, see my article: |
2026-08-17 | Xevi Batlle Colin Riddington |
Issues confirmed by the Access team. Fix completed but not yet released |
| f) | Popup & datasheet subform zoom issues (FIXED in Beta) Zooming using Ctrl+Mousewheel method does not work when the cursor is over a datasheet subform or the subform has focus This causes particular issues for tablet PCs and some laptops where zooming using Ctrl+Alt+Plus/Minus is disabled (so not available) using an on-screen keyboard NOTE: Ctrl+Mousewheel works correctly using continuous subforms Affects all 365 channels with zooming For more details, see my article: |
2026-08-17 | Xevi Batlle Colin Riddington |
Fixed in Beta 2610 20525.20000 released 2026-09-22 |
| g) | Various display glitches and rendering problems when printing reports and with forms (FIXED in CC) Many users have reported issues where parts of a report are printing too small or too large or with inverted colours. For example, see MS Tech Community thread by Jazzy23: 3rd Page Prints at 1/4 Size Only When Printing Full Report Several users have also reported display issues where text reverts to old System font with white background (including in the property sheet). A few users also report Access crashing. See also the Access Forever aticle by Karl Donaubauer: Visual Glitches and Format Problems Affects 365 versions 2607/2608 and caused (at least in part) by a security update. Workaround: Rollback to version 2606 20131.20154 |
2026-08-19 | Karl Donaubauer | Issues confirmed by the Access team. Visual glitches and crashes due to different causes. Fixes released to the Current Channel version 2608 20326.20132 on 2026-09-01 Other channels will receive fixes soon. |
| h) | Control tip text containing line breaks is not displayed properly (FIXED)
Non-printing character code such as vbCrLf and Chr(13) used for line breaks is displayed in place of the line break itself. For more details, see thread in French at Microsoft Q&A: tooltips for labels that no longer take into account characters in new lines in Access Affects version 2607 or later |
2026-08-19 | Karl Donaubauer | Fixed in Current Channel 2609 20430.20144 released 2026-09-08. Fixed in Beta 2610 20508.20000 released 2026-09-10 |
| i) | Control tip text isn't displayed in datasheet forms This may be a longstanding issue but the MS documentation states it should work in any view: |
2026-08-19 | Colin Riddington | Repro database sent to the Access team |
| j) | Datasheet forms are not resized when Zoom Resizes Window property is True (FIXED) Datasheets were originally excluded when this property was added in Beta channel version 2609 Following a request, they will now behave like all other Access forms |
2026-08-19 | Colin Riddington | Fixed in Beta 2610 20501.20002 released 2026-09-08 |
| k) | Display glitches for combo box text when zoomed in datasheets (FIXED in Beta Channel) Combo box text shifted up and left when zoom is increased ![]() When zoom is decreased, combo text is displaced down and right ![]() Repeating the same zoom change, increases the displacement in both cases. Affects all 365 versions with zooming feature. Datasheet subforms are not affected. |
2026-08-19 | Colin Riddington | Fixed in Beta 2610 20501.20002 released 2026-09-08 | l) | Split forms enlarged when Zoom Resizes Window = True When Zoom Resizes Window = True, the width of the form is increased by several orders of magnitude when opened at 100%. The form height also increases. On zooming the form dimensions continue to increase on both zooming in and zooming out. Also text in combo box and selected textbox displaced when zoomed - as in item k) Affects Beta channel version 2609 only |
2026-08-20 | Colin Riddington | Acknowledged by the Access team and will be fixed |
| m) | Access does not always recognize control names when they are enclosed in square brackets and raises error 2465 (FIXED) The first character is changed to a random Unicode character when evaluated by the expression parser. Affects version 2608 or later and only in Windows 11. Windows 10 installations not affected. ![]() Workaround: Rollback to version 2607 20228.20188 |
2026-08-26 | Xevi Batlle Colin Riddington |
Fixed in Current Channel version 2608 20326.20132 released 2026-09-01. Fixed in Beta Channel version 2609 20430.20000 released 2026-09-03. |
n) | Dividing line between form header and detail disappears from right side of form when zoom level is less than 100% (FIXED in Beta Channel) Only seen when detail section AlternateBackColor is the same as the section BackColor or set as NoColor ![]() Affects all versions with zooming (2605 onwards) |
2026-08-26 | Xevi Batlle Colin Riddington |
Fixed in Beta Channel version 2610 20501.20002 released 2026-09-08. |
| o) | Form detail height shrinks when zoom level increased using Zoom Resizes Window property = True With this property set True, all form section heights & widths initially grow as expected when zoom increased. However once form height exceeds Access window height, further zooming causes detail section height to shrink whilst header & footer continue to grow Affects version 2608 or later (with Zoom Resizes Window property) |
2026-08-26 | Xevi Batlle Colin Riddington |
Being discussed with the Access team. |
| p) | Ctrl+Mousewheel scrolling problem at 10% zoom (FIXED in Beta) Open any form and scroll out using Ctrl+Mousewheel to 10% where it (correctly) stops. Repeat but this time spinning the mouse wheel more quickly. This time it reaches 10% then flips to 1000% Affects all versions with Zooming feature (2605 onwards) |
2026-08-29 | Neil Sargent Colin Riddington |
Fixed in Beta Channel Version 2610 Build 20525.20000 released 2026-09-22 |
| q) | Zoom values not reported correctly when switching forms in overlapping windows display (FIXED) Switching between two open forms with different zoom values shows the saame value for both forms Also incorrectly reported on zoom slider control. Affects CC version 2608. |
2026-08-29 | Neil Sargent Colin Riddington |
Fixed in Beta Channel/Current Channel Preview Version 2609 Build 20430.20032 released 2026-09-08 Fixed in Current Channel Version 2609 Build 20430.20092 released 2026-09-22 |
Bug fixes in Current Channel Version 2608 Build 20326.20100 (released 2026-08-18) Return To Top
The Access team have published a blog article listing the following 17 Access fixes released in Version 2608 (Build 20326.20100)
| Item | Theme | Bug information | Issue Fixed | Related Articles |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. | Display/print issues | Regression introduced by an earlier security update | This could cause labels, text boxes, combo boxes, and other controls to lose their fonts, colors, or styles after printing or previewing reports that contain embedded images or OLE objects. It could also contribute to crashes during printing or PDF export. This issue is fixed in Version 2608 Build 16.0.20326.20132, released September 1. | See item g) |
| 2. | Zoom | VBA Zoom did not work reliably with popup forms | Setting or reading a popup form's Zoom property through VBA could use the currently active document window instead of the form named in the expression. VBA now applies the Zoom property to the intended popup form. | Access Bug / Issues Summary - Aug 2026 See item q)See Known Issues #2 |
| 3. | Zoom | Zoom set during Form_Open was replaced by the default zoom | When Form_Open code set the form's Zoom property, the default zoom-on-open logic could immediately overwrite it. Access now preserves the zoom level selected by the form's VBA code. | |
| 4. | Zoom | Combo boxes could show blank rows or reject selections at some zoom levels | At some zoom levels, a combo box could leave blank rows in its drop-down. At very low zoom levels, some values also could not be selected directly. Combo boxes now size and respond correctly as the zoom level changes. | See item f) |
| 5. | Zoom | Zooming out a large report could leave display residue | At low zoom levels, a large report could leave stale content at the bottom of the Report View window. The report now repaints the full window correctly after zooming out. | |
| 6. | Zoom | Control borders became too thick below 100% zoom | Borders could appear disproportionately thick when a form or report was zoomed below 100%. Border rendering now remains visually consistent at lower zoom levels. | |
| 7. | Zoom | Drag selection in a zoomed datasheet could use the wrong coordinates | When selecting a rectangular range by dragging in a datasheet at a zoom level other than 100%, Access could mix screen and document coordinates and hit-test the wrong cells. Drag selection now uses the correct coordinates at every zoom level. | |
| 8. | Zoom | The 25% Zoom keyboard shortcut was difficult to use | The keyboard shortcut for 25% zoom now uses the 2 key instead of requiring the percent-sign key combination. | |
| 9. | Zoom | Existing applications needed a way to disable built-in Zoom | A database-level option is now available to disable built-in Zoom when an application already provides its own zoom commands or keyboard shortcuts. | |
| 10. | Zoom | The screen-reader Zoom announcement was not localized | The announcement of the current zoom percentage used a hardcoded English phrase. It now uses localized text and word order for the selected Office language. | |
| 11. | Forms & Reports | The date picker appeared for locked or read-only controls | The date-picker icon could appear for a locked or read-only text box even though its value could not be edited. The icon is now hidden when the control cannot accept a date selection. | |
| 12. | Forms & Reports | Tab and Shift+Tab could change control stacking order in Design View | Using Tab or Shift+Tab to move between controls in Form Design View could unexpectedly change their front-to-back order. Keyboard navigation now leaves the control stacking order unchanged. | |
| 13. | Forms & Reports | Horizontal report lines disappeared in some Version 2608 preview builds | Some customers who received early preview builds of Version 2608 found that horizontal Line controls with a height of zero appeared in Report View but disappeared in Print Preview, printed output, and exports. This was corrected before the general Current Channel release, and these separator lines render correctly in all report views and output formats. | See item d) |
| 14. | Queries & Data | The modern SQL editor could show an incorrect insufficient-memory error | Executing a query in the modern SQL editor could display "Insufficient memory to perform this operation," typically on the first execution in an Access session. Queries now run without this spurious memory error. | |
| 15. | Queries & Data | The query No Format setting could disagree with Object Properties | For some query types, including crosstab and delete queries, the No Format value shown in the property sheet could differ from the value stored in Object Properties. Both locations now display and save the same setting. | See item e) |
| 16. | Queries & Data | Calculated SharePoint columns displayed #Error in linked tables | Calculated columns from a linked SharePoint list could display #Error instead of their calculated values. Access now displays the values correctly. | See item a) |
| 17. | Customization | Property Sheet font size can now be adjusted | Access Options now includes a setting for changing the font size used in the Property Sheet, making its text easier to read on high-resolution displays and for users who prefer larger text. |
Bug fixes in Beta Channel Version 2609 Build 20430.20002 Return To Top
The information below was kindly provided by Access team member, Shane Groff, with related articles added by me. The 15 fixes listed below are also in Current Channel Preview and should roll out to other channels in the coming months.
| Item | Theme | Bug information | Issue Fixed | Related Articles |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. | Zoom | Label captions could be truncated after using Size To Fit | Labels sized to fit their captions could clip the final character at some zoom levels. The entire caption now remains visible. | See item 15 - UPDATE 2026-06-07 |
| 2. | Zoom | VBA could return the wrong form's Zoom value | Reading the Zoom property of a named form could return the zoom level of the active window instead. VBA now returns the value for the form referenced by the expression. | See item q) |
| 3. | Zoom | The Edit List Items button appeared in the wrong location | At zoom levels other than 100%, the Edit List Items button for a value-list control could appear offset from the control. It now remains aligned with the lower-left corner of the list. | |
| 4. | Zoom | A combo-box selection in a new sub-datasheet record could be discarded | The first value selected from a combo box in a new sub-datasheet record could be cleared, requiring a second selection. The initial selection is now retained. | |
| 5. | Zoom | The active editor in a sub-datasheet did not move when zoom changed | Changing zoom while editing a sub-datasheet cell could leave the editor at its old position. The editor now moves with the cell and remains correctly aligned. | See item k) |
| 6. | Zoom | Tiled background images did not fill forms below 100% zoom | At lower zoom levels, a tiled background picture could cover only part of the form window. The picture now tiles across the entire visible area. | |
| 7. | Zoom | Horizontal scrolling did not scale with zoom | Line and page scrolling could move a zoomed form by the wrong distance. Horizontal scrolling now moves by a consistent relative amount at every zoom level. | See item e) |
| 8. | Zoom | Controls could paint or align incorrectly after scrolling a zoomed form | Access now uses consistent coordinate units when painting, positioning, and hit-testing controls, preventing shifted controls and display artifacts at zoom levels other than 100%. | |
| 9. | Zoom | Disabling Zoom could retain a non-default zoom level | When built-in Zoom is disabled for a database, the default zoom is now reset to 100% so the form window and its contents remain consistently sized. | |
| 10. | Zoom | A rich-text editor could disappear while zooming | Changing zoom while a rich-text field had focus could make its editor disappear at some zoom levels. The editor now remains visible and correctly positioned. | |
| 11. | Forms & Reports | Text boxes left artifacts while scrolling over a tiled background | Scrolling a form with a tiled background picture could leave lines or remnants where text boxes had been displayed. The background and controls now repaint cleanly. | |
| 12. | Forms & Reports | The Property Sheet icon disappeared after sorting properties | Sorting the Property Sheet could cause its icon to disappear. The icon now remains visible after switching the property order. | |
| 13. | Forms & Reports | Line breaks were removed from ControlTip text | ControlTip text containing line breaks could be displayed as a single line. Access now preserves the intended line breaks in the tooltip. | See item h) |
| 14. | Queries & Data | The Query Design splitter could draw outside the Access window | While dragging the divider between the query panes, the tracking line could appear over other applications or on another monitor. The divider is now clipped to the Query Design window. | Access / Office Bug Summary - July 2026 See item c) |
| 15. | Customization | Access options now accept non-standard font sizes | The font-size settings for the Property Sheet, Query Design, and default datasheet font are now editable, allowing values from 1 through 127 points instead of only the listed sizes. The boxes were also widened to display three-digit values fully. |
